The Lutheran Hour Float
2008 Tournament of Roses Parade

Float Theme
The theme for the 2008 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade is “Passport to World's Celebrations” and this year's float theme is “Joy to the World The Lord has Come.” 2008 marks our 59th year of participation in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. The Lutheran Hour Float stands as the only Christian float participating in the world's most famous media event. An event that will be seen by more than 450 million people around the world.
Description
The 2008 Lutheran Hour Float is based on John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
The Tournament President, in selecting the Tournament of Roses parade theme, wanted floats to feature travel to World's Celebrations. This year we selected the first Christmas of our Lord and Savior Jesus as our float's celebration. The live nativity features the Wisemen traveling on camels as they follow the star in search of the newborn Christ child. The float features a star hanging over the manger scene and includes beautiful floral gardens and decorated farm animals
Just as the star was the passport that lead the Wisemen to Jesus, we want to emphasize that the belief in Jesus is our Passport to our heavenly destination and our eternal celebration with Him.
Riders
The 2008 Lutheran Hour Float riders will be lead by Larry Lumpe, Executive Director of the Lutheran Layman's League. The Float Committee is also sponsoring the Ride of a Lifetime! contest for students (7th to 12th grades) who are members of a Pacific Southwest District Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Additional riders will be selected from members of the Southern California area Lutheran Churches in the Missouri Synod.
